Edinburgh Christmas Markets The Most Popular In Europe According To TikTok

Edinburgh’s Christmas markets have been revealed as the most popular in Europe according to a new TikTok study.

With December just around the corner, people all over the world will soon be heading to their nearest Christmas market to soak up the festive atmosphere. The biggest and most well known in Scotland are the ones in Edinburgh, which run from the end of November to the start of January.

New research, conducted by car rental website DiscoverCars.com, has revealed the most popular Christmas markets according to TikTok hashtags. Edinburgh’s iconic markets topped the list, with the hashtag #EdinburghChristmasMarket received a total of 3.3 million views on the platform.

Anyone who has been to the market in East Princes Street Gardens will know that it is a one-of-a-kind experience, where you can chow down on seasonal goodies, buy unique Christmas gifts, and even go on its 60-metre high Star Flyer ride. With so much to offer, it is unsurprising that so many people have taken to TikTok to share their experiences.

Following in second place on the list is the Strasbourg Christmas market in France, with the event’s hashtag receiving 526,800 views on the social media platform. Among the market’s highlights are activities including a Christmas walk and light displays.

According to the research, the Stuttgart Christmas markets in the German town of Esslingen are the third most popular on TikTok, with 347,400 views. The markets here include almost 300 stalls serving up a wide range of snacks and gifts.

To compile the list, DiscoverCars.com used The Times ‘ best Christmas markets in Europe for 2022 list. The site then located the events’ corresponding hashtags on TikTok and ordered them by the total number of views.
